ABOUT OUR MEMORIAL URNS
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
-Each memorial urn is handcrafted using sustainably
harvested Moso bamboo, an earth friendly
material that is harder than Oak. Bamboo reaches full
maturity after only 3 years compared to the 60+
years that it takes for hardwoods to mature and
doesn’t need to be replanted. Bamboo is also noted for it's ability to reduce carbon dioxide gas.
-Glue formaldehyde levels used in the bamboo ply are less than half of the E-1 (European Standard) which is already much stricter than the existing standard in the USA.
-We finish our bamboo with all natural hardwax oil. Made with plant oils and waxes, all readily renewable, natural ingredients. Contains no biocides or preservatives (low-voc). As durable as polyurethane and far easier to fix. Our memorials are designed to last for generations
-All steel used is at least 50% recycled.
-Our studio creates virtually zero waste.
-We consider our environmental impact at every level of production and do our best to create a truly eco-friendly product that we are proud to build and you can be proud to own. We use a green printer for all of our printing needs who operates on alternative energy, uses 100% recycled paper and soy based inks. We also pay the extra price to use recycled paper, packaging material and biodegradable peanuts when shipping your memorial.
-The decorative resin material is created from at least 50% recycled material (soon to be closer to 100%) and is LEED certified as a green product.
OIL LAMP MEMORIAL
An oil lamp is built into each urn lid providing a unique
opportunity to further memorialize your loved
ones. The oil container, which screws into the bottom of the lid, is easy to refill and will safely burn for approximately 6 hours. A fiberglass wick is included with the memorial and paraffin lamp oil is readily available at craft stores. You also have the option to purchase a second, solid lid which does not have an oil lamp built into it. Click HERE for instructions on operating your oil lamp.
SEALING YOUR SUBLID
A removable bamboo sub-lid sits inside the memorial urn allowing you to separate the lower area which holds the cremated remains. Once the cremated remains are placed inside the urn, you have the option of permanently sealing the sublid which sits on two bamboo shelves. We suggest using a standard epoxy available at hardware stores.
CUSTOM ENGRAVING
Custom, in-house engraving is available. We engrave your message on a polished stainless steel plaque which measures
1" x 3.5". We can accommodate two lines of text, we have one font type available. Engraving takes 7-10 days, we can either adhere it to the lower front of your memorial and ship together or we can ship your memorial urn right away and ship your plaque once it is completed. PLACING CREMATED REMAINS IN YOUR URN
The funeral home or crematory will place the cremated remains in a plastic bag. You have two options. You can either place the plastic bag directly in the urn (we recommend leaving the cremated remains in the bag) or you can bring the urn to the funeral home where they will do this for you.
Cremains of an average human adult will require 100 to 180 cubic inches. For pets, typically one pound of body weight equals one cubic inch of volume.
ACCENTS
-Floating polished stainless steel accent in lid keeps flame heat away from the bamboo.
-All mild steel is powder coated to a custom dark gray, semi-gloss finish.
